Rams might be the only team bold enough to fix the Micah Parsons mess

Micah Parsons is frustrated with the Cowboys and wants to be traded. So did Jalen Ramsey. So did Matthew Stafford. The Rams seem like the only option for a solution.

Sometimes, it seems as though the Los Angeles Rams roster could be the NFL's answer to the mythical Island of Misfit Toys. The team has a long history of rushing in like white knights and salvaging desperate teams and desperate players from the chaos and carnage of their own making.

The Los Angeles Rams are not the favored landing spot for Micah Parsons right now. But they are among the teams that oddsmakers have named. And they have an up-close and personal opportunity to meet with everyone associated with the Dallas Cowboys on August 5, 2025. That is when the Rams and Cowboys hold a joint practice.

I recommend that the Rams bring GM Les Snead along, and tell him to bring his checkbook.

The Rams could help Cowboys save face here

Let's be clear. The Rams are not in the business of finding solutions for other NFL teams. But this is a unique circumstance that could lead to a unique win-win-win for all parties. And if Micah Parsons insists on being traded, then it creates an opportunity for the Rams roster to become instantly formidable.

S, what might that look like in trade form?

NFL Insider Adam Schefter provides the answers. A comparable trade from years ago involved the Chicago Bears' trade for the Oakland Raiders for OLB Khalil Mack. So a Micah Parsons trade would look like this:

That's a lot of draft capital, and the trade crippled the Bears to the point that they have not been worthy opponents in the NFC North Division for years. So the Rams need to be smart about this type of trade. What might get the deal done, but not cripple the team for years to come?

If I were the Rams, I would want to wow the Cowboys. And the best way to do that is to offer them more than the risk of draft picks. So I would propose the following trade that would load them up with two stars and two draft picks.

In this exchange, the Rams need to clear cap space to take on Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys want to get immediate value, and both teams ensure that they have an adequate pass rush arsenal for the 2025 NFL season. So the Rams could propose this:

While some fans may not be happy with this exchange, keep in mind that both teams are taking on risks in this deal. The Cowboys are gambling on the productivity of three players and the outcome of two very valuable picks. While the Rams have more immediate certainty over Micah Parsons' production in 2025, the true risk lies in extending him, and doing so while continuing to get the best from him.

Micah Parsons wants out. The Dallas Cowboys want to save face and optimize value from a difficult impasse. A finely crafted trade proposal could be something that makes both parties happy.

Even as fans must wrestle with the uncertainty of veteran QB Matthew Stafford's durability, the team must view 2025 as a now-or-never window to get Stafford to one more Super Bowl. And trading for Micah Parsons makes that much more likely. Is Parsons worth the risk?

You bet he is. And the Rams and Cowboys have joint practice slated within hours. Grab your popcorn, folks, because GM Les Snead feels a deal to be made. The Rams once pried OLB Von Miller from the Denver Broncos. So, prying a disgruntled Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys is certainly possible.

As always, thanks for reading.
