The Los Angeles Rams look ready to go for the 2025 season, especially with quarterback Matthew Stafford returning to practice late in the preseason. The team's success will hinge on the offense, and the Rams ensured a key piece wouldn't leave any time soon.
The Rams and running back Kyren Williams both agreed to terms on a three-year, $33 million contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 2028 season. Williams had been a great addition to the Rams offense, as he is coming off of back-to-back 1,000 rushing yard seasons. As he looks ready to put up a repeat performance and help the Rams reach the Super Bowl again, the team has some other plans.
While speaking with reporters, Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said that the plan is to divvy up more touches to all running backs on the roster, in both the passing and rushing games.

Rams already overcomplicating running back plan after signing Kyren Williams to contract extension
This is certainly unideal for those fantasy football players who drafted Williams to be their primary running back. But when you look at it from the for-real football perspective, the Rams want to utilize everyone they have on the roster to help trick the defense.
Let's not forget that the team used a high draft pick in 2024 on Michigan running back Blake Corum. During his college career, Corum was one of the best at his position in the nation. Not to mention, he played a pivotal role in run-heavy Michigan winning the CFP National Championship. In that game, he ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, as Michigan defeated Washington 34-13. That season, Corum led the nation with 27 rushing touchdowns and 28 touchdowns from scrimmage, while also rushing for 1,245 yards on 258 carries.
Corum was viewed as Williams' potential replacement if the Rams were unable to re-sign him. But with Williams now under contract, Corum was initially seen as a change-of-pace back. But with LaFleur's comments, Corum could see even more snaps.
The Rams also have Jarquez Hunter on the roster, a rookie out of Auburn. The fourth-round pick made the most of his carries throughout his career at Auburn, averaging 6.3 yards per carry after picking up 3,371 yards on 539 attempts, while scoring 25 touchdowns.
The main question that will linger with this plan, is will McVay take Williams out for some snaps, especially if he is thriving in the game? Whatever McVay decides to do, Rams fans will buy in if this plan results in wins.
