The Los Angeles Rams had whittled the 90-player roster down to the regulation limit of 53 players. Along the way, the team ran out of room, and many fan favorites were released along the way. But as is often the case, the story of many NFL hopefuls does not end there. The initial 53-man Rams roster is simply a starting point. The 17-game regular season is a long, grueling process.
Last year's starters for Week 1 included IOL Jonah Jackson, DB Tre'Davious White, and OT Joe Noteboom, none of whom are even with the team now. By season's end, more than 70 players are likely to see some level of playing time. Even as the team has renewed hope to restore LT Alaric Jackson to a starting role in time for the opening kickoff, it must have a Plan B in place.
The team assembled the practice squad from the players originally released by the team. The first report indicated 15 players rejoined the team. And then, finally, the team reported the final addition. Curiously, there were no great surprises, even after the team had already lost an NFL high via waivers of four players to other NFL teams. Adding even more insult to injury, Pooh Paul Jr. signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad.
Los Angles Rams 2025 practice squad roster: Full list of 16 players
Offense (8)
- OT AJ Arcuri
- OL Wyatt Bowles
- OL Dylan McMahon
- RB Ronnie Rivers
- RB Cody Schrader
- TE Mark Redman
- WR Brennan Presley
- WR Tru Edwards
While the team may have viewed the loss of Willie Lampkin to the Philadelphia Eagles as a setback, the front office quickly pivoted to reclaim multiple offensive linemen, including the other preseason sensation, Wyatt Bowles.
The team reclaimed both Ronnie Rivers and Cody Schrader, essentially restoring the running back room to 2024 form. Both rookie wide receivers Brennan Presley and Tru Edwards proved to be potent playmakers and could see live action sooner rather than later.
Defense (8)
- DT Bill Norton
- DT Jack Heflin
- ILB Elias Neal
- OLB Jamil Muhammad
- CB A.J. Green
- CB Cam Lampkin
- S Tanner Ingle
- S Nate Valcarcel
Despite losing ILB Pooh Paul Jr., pass rusher Brennan Jackson, and CBs Derion Kendrick and Charles Wood to other NFL teams, the team managed to address a well-rounded group of competent defensive talent on the practice squad.
Of particular note, the team did re-sign mountainous Bill Norton, a 6-foot-6, 335-pound powerhouse who had an excellent preseason. And the team managed to retain both significant safeties in Tanner Ingle and Nate Valcarcel.
The 53-man active Rams roster and 16-man practice squad rosters have been created. From a quick survey, this could be one of the most talented teams assembled for head coach Sean McVay. Now, the key to success is about keeping everyone healthy. As always, thanks for reading.
