Is this really it for Matthew Stafford? You won't hear it in his voice. You certainly won't find the answer from Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay or general manager Les Snead. But there is a certain new swagger to the girl-dad quarterback these days.

A swagger you'll find from old-timers who don't give a rip.

Stafford exudes even more confidence than he had ahead of his MVP 2025 season, and he has good reason to. It's impossible to ignore the fact that he was a full participant in 2026 training camp. As a result of that improved chemistry, many receivers who struggled to connect with Stafford early or at all last season are completely locked in and making tough receptions now.

He also still has an elite cast of characters who deserve their own accolades for bolstering his MVP season. Stalwart offensive linemen, robust receivers, and a strong running game all lift up their quarterback.

The 2025 Rams led the league in scoring and yardage, and there are many reasons to be even more optimistic this year. Even at 38, Stafford has the support he needs to go out and be great once again.

Stafford has remained elite amid age and health concerns

Stafford remains a star, but as he enters his 18th season, even Rams fans wonder how much longer he can keep this up.

Stafford has every right to walk away from football on his terms. After 12 frustrating seasons with the Detroit Lions, he enters his sixth in Los Angeles. His production has seen a sharp uptick ever since the trade. Last year, he was the NFL's best at the position.

Stafford has shown resilience on the football field and in managing his career. He made himself quickly at home in an unfamiliar environment and led the Horns to a Super Bowl victory in Year 1. Since then, his winning ways have continued fueling the team's success.

As Stafford goes, however, so goes Los Angeles. That was crystal clear as recently as 2025. If you recall, he miraculously recovered from a back injury in time to start Week 1. What followed was a masterclass in dissecting NFL defenses.

That was after many analysts hinted that Stafford's career could be over. His back injury prevented him from participating in any football activities throughout training camp and even well into the preseason just one year ago. Now, those same pundits are singing his praises.

A year ago, Stafford struggled through career-threatening health issues and went on to win MVP. This year, he shone in camp. What does that mean for 2026? I guess you'll have to stick around to find out.

As always, thanks for reading.
