The conundrum of “What comes next?” haunts NFL veterans who must pivot to a new career — sometimes with little planning, which can make or break their life after football. For Los Angeles Rams starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, retirement plans are coming at him fast. And Rams fans are being pulled along for the ride.
If you want to revisit the chain of events that got us here, there’s no shortage of articles detailing the back-and-forth pendulum swinging between hope and despair. But the latest news of no practice and more back discomfort has left fans losing their minds. This has not been easy for fans, no matter how you look at it.
How can a player compete in a contact sport when he can’t even throw in practice? And are fans truly ready to rally behind an offense led by a quarterback thrust into the starting role at point-blank range, with so little recent football to his name? The latest updates aren’t easing those concerns. Instead of headlines about reps, timing, or chemistry, the big announcement is that Rams QB Matthew Stafford will be hosting on SiriusXM.
Rams QB Matthew Stafford to Host “Let’s Go!” on SiriusXM for 2025
SiriusXM shared a press release that named Stafford as co-host with award-winning journalist Jim Gray for the fifth season of Let's Go! This radio broadcast is a weekly show that touches on relevant topics as they occur in the world of professional football. Las Vegas Raiders Maxx Crosby and Peter King round out the hosts.
The first show airs September 1, 2025, just ahead of the NFL season kickoff. According to SiriusXM’s press release:
"In his first media role, Stafford will join Hall of Fame broadcaster Jim Gray for weekly discussions on the Rams and other trending topics around the league. Stafford and Gray will also be joined throughout the season by special guests from the worlds of sports, entertainment, and beyond.
The fifth season of “Let’s Go!” begins Monday, September 1, ahead of the kickoff of the 2025 NFL season later that week. New episodes will debut every Monday at 6:30 pm ET/3:30 pm PT on SiriusXM NFL Radio (channel 88). After debuting on SiriusXM, the show is available on all major podcast platforms, with additional bonus content available only on the SiriusXM app." - As per SiriusXM Press Release
The timing is... awkward. While fans are anxiously wondering if Stafford will play this season, he’s stepping into a weekly radio gig. It raises an obvious question: Is he already preparing for life after football?
To be fair, this was arranged long before his back issues resurfaced, and Crosby has been a co-host in the past. There’s nothing inherently suspicious about the move. But in the current climate, the optics aren’t great. Rams fans wanted encouraging football news. Instead, they got a broadcast schedule.
It could all work out. It could also fray a few nerves. Either way, it looks like Stafford’s voice will be making more plays off the field than on it, and that’s a storyline Rams fans didn’t have on their 2025 bingo card. As always, thanks for reading.
