Los Angeles Rams fans are thankful for the 2021 trade that made Matthew Stafford their quarterback. Stafford immediately paid off the investment by leading the team to a Super Bowl title that very year.
No. 9 has continued to be a difference-maker for the Rams. While his tenure hasn't produced another Lombardi Trophy (yet), he won his first NFL MVP this past year and had the Rams on the cusp of another appearance in the Big Game. It was far from the fault of Stafford and the offense that they failed to punch their ticket.
In short, he has been nothing but elite since arriving in Los Angeles. That's why it comes as something of a shock not to see Stafford anywhere near the top in player merch sales, which encompasses anything with a player's name on it - jerseys, shirts, hoodies, etc.
According to NFLPA player sales data spanning from March 2025 to February 2026, Stafford did not rank in the top 50. An absolute stunner. Where are all the Rams fans?
Matthew Stafford fails to land in top 50 player sales
For those wondering, the top 10 consists of Josh Allen, Drake Maye, Saquon Barkley, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jayden Daniels, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, and Micah Parsons. Seven are quarterbacks.
You have to scroll to 24th on the list to get to the first Rams player, Puka Nacua, the only member of the team to make the cut. Funny enough, Jared Goff is on the list at 36th and Cooper Kupp, another former Ram, comes in at 41st. But Stafford is nowhere to be seen. What gives?
One possible explanation is simply that Stafford has been in the league for a long time and he's close to the end of his career. Maybe people don't want to spend money on a player's jersey if they suspect he's about to retire (think again). For Rams fans, though, hasn't Stafford done enough to prove that his jersey is worth wearing after he hangs up the cleats? You'd think so.
At the end of the day, such trivia doesn't really matter - certainly not to Stafford, who is gearing up for another Super Bowl push - but it's pretty surprising not to see him listed at all. He just won MVP and nearly had the Rams in the finale, where they would have been notable favorites over New England. Maybe winning it all a second time was a prerequisite, but unless that happens this year (and it might), we may just never know.
