Nobody knows how to create offseason roster buzz like Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead. And when it comes to deciphering Snead's headline-making trades, nobody delivers better insight than NFL analyst Mina Kimes.
So it makes sense to turn to Kimes after the Rams' offseason endeavors. Did they miss the mark? Or has the team rightfully gone all-in with a flurry of big-name maneuvers? Well, for the insightful Kimes, Snead has hit the bullseye. And she's not just objective, but one of the best in the field of NFL analysis:
"What a nightmare for opposing offenses. This is the best team in the NFL. ... They add a player in Myles Garrett who, is not just the best defensive player in the league, [he] might be the best player in the entire league," Kimes said Monday on ESPN NFL Live.
Not everybody gets what Snead is up to. That's why it's never a good reason to judge him too hastily. Last season's top-scoring offense now has a defense to match. No one saw that coming.
Ironically, Kimes is a Seattle supporter. The beauty is that not only does she applaud the move, she also detects the genius strategy for what it is. And that should scare the heck out of her fellow Seahawks fans.
Kimes makes compelling argument for uptick all over Rams DL
There is more to the addition of Myles Garrett to the Rams' defense than his production alone. His presence will have a direct or indirect impact on at least four main beneficiaries. Kimes hammered home that same message:
Myles Garrett rushing next to the Rams DTs (Turner and Fiske were 5th and 14th in pass rush win league-wide amongst DTs) is nasty, nasty stuff.
You can say that again. Nasty.
Since 2023, the Rams have stocked the defense with passionate, fundamentally sound players who are also versatile enough to remain dependable and effective in multiple roles. Now, Snead has bulwarked the group with elite specialists who can carry this unit over the top. And Kimes gets that.
Her perception of how Garrett unlocks Rams young defensive linemen Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske is exactly what Snead is shooting for.
Los Angeles is not making everything about 2026. Garrett is under contract through 2030. And with quarterback Matthew Stafford hinting that he wants to continue playing football, he has plenty of reasons to stick with LA for years to come.
Kimes loves what LA has accomplished this offseason. And while nobody knows the future, she tips her cap to Snead for making the effort to place the Horns in the best position to win it all. Now this team must begin the hard work to realize its full potential. Seahawks fans beware.
As always, thanks for reading.
