And while the jury may still be out as to how significant Myles Garrett will be for the Los Angeles Rams, one thing is clear. He is significantly better than the brochure.

Still, isn't that what fans expected? Well, yes and no. Garrett is, by consensus opinion, the best pass rusher in the NFL. But merely acknowledging that label is a far cry from actually seeing him demolish blockers.

Strong as an ox, fast as a cheetah, as elusive as a minnow, Garrett is not just good. He dominates in almost every category. And he is finally playing on a team that expects to contend for a Super Bowl. The 2026 version of Myles Garrett may be one the NFL has not seen before.

Myles Garrett has something to prove in 2026

Nobody questions his individual talent. But since turning pro in 2017, he has yet to find collective success. Much like quarterback Matthew Stafford when he joined the Rams in 2021, Garrett has the chance to silence the enclave of critics who claim he has failed to consistently elevate his team.

This season, Garrett is not expected to carry the Rams defense. He is simply one more elite contributor whose role is clearly defined. While pivotal moments will surface throughout the year, Garrett can rest assured knowing that it's not all on his shoulders 100 percent of the time.

And while Garrett was a known commodity with the Cleveland Browns, he is now introducing himself to a new coaching staff, new teammates, and a new fanbase. And he is clearly intent on beating all expectations.

LA's previous defenses benefited from the speed of outside linebacker Byron Young. With Garrett joining him, this edge-rushing duo all but ensures that opposing quarterbacks will have scant time to get rid of the football.

It's rare when a player's training camp performance foreshadows his season's production. Garrett may be the exception to that rule. If you needed a reason to believe in the Rams' potential, look no further. Garrett is proving that he is ready to lead Los Angeles to the promised land.
