10 minutes is not a very long time. Unless your team is just two picks from stepping up to the podium to announce its selection. Under those circumstances, the 10 minutes between picks seems like a lifetime. Well, the NFL noticed and has introduced a rule change in 2026 that will shorten every fan's wait time.
Round 1 selections will only have eight minutes, not ten minutes. And that two -minute difference between selections shortens Round 1 by more than one entire hour. So what? Well, if you were planning to hop aboard the 2026 NFL Draft around the time that the Los Angeles Rams make their selection at the 13th overall pick, you will have missed the fun by nearly half an hour.
The best advice for this draft's first-round action is to tune in as early as possible. There will be some early trades and surprises that could impact LA's options when they are on the clock. If you cannot stay glued to your television, the draft is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm PT. LA should be on the clock on or about 6:30 pm PT. Of course, that presumes Los Angeles is making their selection at 13.
Don't expect that to hold.
Rams are projected to do just about anything in this draft
Even as one NFL insider warns LA Rams fans not to be shocked if the team trades up to select Notre Dame elite running back Jeremiyah Love, two other NFL experts hint that the Rams will be lured by the Detroit Lions to trade back in Round 1. One of the trade-back projections comes from Peter Schrager, a guy who often has his finger on the Rams' pulse.
General manager Les Snead seldom limits his options prior to the draft's actual arrival. He is confident enough in his knowledge and understanding to wing it throughout the multi-day event. And his track record, particularly that of uncovering NFL starters late in the event, proves he is on the right track.
