The Los Angeles Rams are moving on to the Divisional Round, but it wasn't without some drama and scares. The Rams saw a 14-0 lead disappear, and eventually found themselves trailing by a score of 31-27 with over two minutes left in regulation. For many quarterbacks, the pressure would have been too much.
But for Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford, that's exactly how he likes it.
The Rams picked up the 34-31 victory after Stafford connected on a 19-yard touchdown pass to tight end Colby Parkinson. Stafford finished that drive by completing six of seven pass attempts for 71 yards. This was Stafford's 42nd fourth-quarter comeback and 54th game-winning drive of his career.
After the game, Rams wide receiver Davante Adams revealed what Stafford said to the team on that game-winning drive.
Stafford told his Rams teammate:
"Let's go snatch these guys' hearts."
And that comment surprised Adams, a veteran of many NFL seasons.
Davante Adams reveals Matthew Stafford's ruthless comment
How did Davante Adams react to his quarterback's comment at a critical moment of the game?
"That was pretty cold. Just to hear that and I actually smiled, literally, in the moment because I thought that was like one of the most gangster things you could say, in that moment, honestly. And to hear him say that and the look on his face, and then throw the touchdown and the look on his face after that, that was just MVP stuff." - Davante Adams reacting to Matthew Stafford's comment.
Rams fans will absolutely love these comments from Adams, who revealed just how confident Stafford was in helping lead the team over the Panthers to avoid the upset elimination.
The Rams' win was far from easy. They had to overcome miscues on both defense and special teams. Not to mention, Stafford injured a finger on his throwing hand, which became a hindrance for the quarterback. But that all changed in the fourth quarter.
The former Georgia Bulldog quarterback finished the game completing 24-of-42 pass attempts for 304 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
This season, Stafford showcased why he was the favorite to win the NFL MVP Award for the first time in his career. Stafford threw for 4,707 yards (league-high), 46 touchdowns (league-high), and eight interceptions on a 65.0 completion percentage. Now, he has a comeback playoff win to add to his resume this season.
The girl-dad quarterback showed why the Rams won't be an easy elimination in these playoffs. Adams recollection of Stafford's comments and demeanor on that game-winning drive in North Carolina painted a picture of how confident the quarterback is.
