This could be quite the game.

A schedule leak has the Los Angeles Rams playing in primetime in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL Season, and it would come against a very familiar foe. In 2023, the Los Angeles Rams had a late-season turnaround that led them to the playoffs, and of course, they drew the Detroit Lions as their opponent.

In a great game, the Rams fell by one point, and as you can imagine, Matthew Stafford didn't get the nicest of welcomes back to Detroit, the place he helped keep relevant for years as a Lion. After 2020, Stafford seemingly had enough, and in short order, was shipped to the Los Angeles Rams. Former Rams QB Jared Goff was sent over as part of the deal.

In 2021, Stafford's first year, the Rams won the Super Bowl, something they could not do with Jared Goff under center back when they made the big game in 2018. A notorious schedule-leaking account on X leaked that the Rams and Lions would meet up with each other to open the 2024 NFL Season.

The leak is that the game comes in primetime, on Sunday Night Football. This would be a perfect game for the Rams to at least get some revenge, but to be fair, they did win a Super Bowl with Stafford, so that still may sting the Detroit Lions fanbase some. For the Lions, though, this coming season could be a Super Bowl one.

I am not sure there is a team with a better roster in the NFL than Detroit, and GM Brad Holmes has gotten to work this offseason, extending guys like Jared Goff, Penei Sewell, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. These aren't the Lions of old, so the Rams will have their hands full with this game. However, the Rams are no slouches, either.

In fact, these two teams may have the best overall young cores in the NFL. Brad Holmes and Rams GM Les Snead have played chess while most other teams have played checkers with their recent NFL Drafts, and those drafts are huge reasons why each team is set up nicely for 2024.
