The LA Rams entire organization will undoubtedly be paying very close attention to events as they unfold in Indianapolis, Indiana over the next couple of days. It's time for the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine to broadcast live athletic competition by invited NCAA football players over the course of the next four days. Until now, much of the activity has been happening behind the scenes, with medical evaluations, interviews, and the like taking up much of the NFL hopefuls time.

But now we have finally arrived to the portion of the NFL Combine that we all know and love. A series of athletic track and field events that give direct and comparative data that can be used to compare and contrast the vast number of candidates from one another. It's the time of buzz, rising stocks, and falling stocks, all meant to give NFL teams the final flourish for their draft profiles, while whetting the appetite of football fans for a new NFL season.

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again - Lyrics to the song Happy Days Are Here Again, 1929

For NFL fans, this is the first of many events that truly forces views to turn from last year to next year. In the showcasing of so many talented and energetic college hopefuls, the entire league has a chance to pause farewells and regrets, and embrace and welcome a small army of new football players into the fold.

321 college football players have been invited to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. But even that number is really only scratching the surface. You can realistically expect anywhere from 20 to 30 college prospects who were not invited to the combine to hear their names called out in the 2024 NFL Draft. Those players must await their respective college or regional Pro Days to get their opportunity to give one final impression to NFL scouts and personnel execs.

For Rams fans, the team is armed with an history best 11 picks for GM Les Snead and HC Sean McVay, which adds to the allure and excitement for this draft class. For the first time since hiring Coach McVay to lead the team in 2017, the Rams are expected to step up to the podium on Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. That brings a great deal of excitement, and pressure, to the team's front office that has very little experience of vetting rookie prospects at such a lofty level.

The first group to compete in the athletic events this year are defensive linemen and linebackers. Just to clarify, that includes pass rushers, an area that many expect the team to consider addressing in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. So this will be a special time for Rams fans to monitor.
