2nd Rams rookie earns NFL Rookie of the Week honors

If you thought that the LA Rams did not value picks, forgetaboutit! If you believe that the LA Rams cannot draft well, then you need to catch up on the latest news. The LA Rams may not have hit on each of their 14 draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, but entering the seventh game of the 2023 NFL season, it appears that the Rams have already established six rookies as starters.

Perhaps most impressive about the LA Rams ability to hone in on talented rookies in the 2023 NFL Draft is the fact that the Rams track record of hitting on prospects in recent drafts has waned of late. But the Rams clearly have impressed with this draft class. Is it the fact that the Rams front office clearly devoted a significant amount of time on the draft? Or was it the fact that a new wave of coaches added had a clear and concise focus on the type of players that could succeed on the Rams roster?

Or does this come down to the simplest explanation of all? The LA Rams rededicated themselves with coaches who have great developmental and communication skills, and the Rams rookie class is simply a result of better coaching methods?

Whatever the cause, nobody can argue the results. LA Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua has been honored twice this season with the Rookie of the Week honors. Now, he is joined by another Rams rookie, OLB Byron Young, who has been honored with his first Rookie of the Week for his outstanding performance in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Perhaps the best news about Byron Young's excellent debut in the NFL is the fact that the Rams have him under contract through the 2026 NFL season. Better yet, rookie pass rushers ger noticeable better with each game that they play, peaking somewhere late in their second season.

While there has been a positive trend from Byron Young all season, not all LA Rams fans have come to appreciate just what a special player Young has been for the Rams so far. He is playing his first NFL season, and facing blockers and NFL teams for the first time in his career.
