(2) - Rams have to trade for someone

Trade scenarios are fun, sometimes. And the history of the LA Rams, even when fighting an insane amount of injuries (2022 for example), is such that there is no bad time to link the team to the next potentially traded player. But sometimes, trades do not make sense. We informed everyone that the potential successor for Matthew Stafford could be the recently benched tarnished formerly top-pick quarterback Bryce Young.

But we never suggested that Young plays in 2024. He is merely an option for the future that has been linked to the Rams by multiple sources. And yes, the Rams need a future franchise quarterback, particularly in the opinion of so many who are adamantly opposed to the notion of backup QB Stetson Bennett becoming that guy.

But the Rams have more problems right now than one key veteran addition. This is not a 2021 team that has steamrolled over opposing teams and needs that one final piece to put the Rams roster over the top. This team lacks durability. But more importantly, this is a team that lacks identity. Until the Rams lean on someone besides Cooper Kupp, why try to add another veteran who will only confuse the matter further?

We know that not all players do well on this team. One recent example was former WR Allen Robinson, a tough-nosed receiver who had outstanding success hauling in contested catches in other offenses. But when he put on The Horns, he was a non-factor. But since an outstanding 2020 season with the Chicago Bears, Robinson has not delivered much.

With so many injuries, the Rams need to sign even veteran minimum salaried players is burning through their available salary cap space. Unless the team takes drastic measures to free up cap space, there is simply no money to spend on any player acquired in a trade.
