It's the Rams versus the Chargers in Game 2 of preseason. There is a lot on the line for some players. Here are 6 such players who need to perform well during Rams preseason Week 2 to keep their NFL dreams alive.

(1) - QB Stetson Bennett

Game 1 of the LA Rams preseason was all about QB Stetson Bennett, and I suspect a similar workload will fall on his shoulders for Game 2. Bennett played in all 71 of the team's offensive snaps against the Dallas Cowboys. He will almost certainly get all of the work this week. And that preseason workload will continue until he: Shows complete command of the position (i.e. no mental mistakes that lead to turnovers), shows complete regression, or taps out.

Neither Matthew Stafford nor Jimmy Garoppolo will get any preseason work:

So how deep of a hole does Bennett find himself in this week? Bennett has been a hot name for the Rams this week and has certainly been a topic of discussion for HC Sean McVay. But as some fans, bloggers, and even some NFL analysts have marched on Castle SoFi armed with pitchforks and torches to oust Stetson Bennett from the team, Coach McVay continues to seem comfortable and relaxed with his backup quarterback.

Check out these comments from the Rams head coach about Bennett:

McVay shared that he thought that Bennett: "has done a really good job" at bouncing back this week. McVay is really pleased with Bennett right now, and means it. He is not anxious, worried, or upset with Bennett, and that could mean better times ahead for Stetson Bennett in this game.

I'm not prepared to exclaim that Stetson Bennett has a 300+ yards , four touchdown game in him. But if he throws for 200+ yards, one touchdown, and no more than one (or less) interceptions, I think that will show enough growth and development to squelch the 'cut him' chatter that rivals the 'fire him' banter often seen in years past about former DC Raheem Morris.

Bennett has a solid throwing arm. He has a strong ability to scramble and gain yards with his legs. And he is incredibly innovative, capable of rolling out of the pocket, keeping his eyes trained downfield, and connecting with an open man in the back of the endzone.

If he is going to make it in the NFL, he has to turn the corner in preseason this year. I say stay tuned, because Coach McVay is never this confident without good reason.

As always, thanks for reading.
