Ceiling and floor predictions for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2024 NFL Season
The Los Angeles Rams really have a great shot to make a deep playoff run in 2024. However, just how bad could this team be? To me, this hinges on injuries and how Matthew Stafford plays. Stafford is is now at the age where a decline needs to be on the radar, especially when you consider how banged up he's been during his career.
He's entering his age-36 season, so he is old in NFL terms. However, if Stafford continued to play in 2024 how he finished the 2023 season, the Rams might find themselves back in the Super Bowl. There are so many different scenarios that can transpire in 2024. Let's look at the two most notable ones, their ceiling and their floor.
Ceiling and floor predictions for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2024 NFL Season
Floor: 6-11
Even if the Rams hit a brick wall in 2024, I still see them being able to rip off six wins. Now it's not like six wins would be impressive at all. It'd be a huge step back from how they played in 2023. Their strong rookie class really fueled them down the stretch, and Stafford himself was playing lights-out.
But in a 6-11 season, Stafford shows obvious signs of being in a physical decline, and it might be so bad that we even see Jimmy Garoppolo play some games. This would likely mean the Rams would have some bottom-7-ish QB play, which is not at all ideal. However, even with that bad QB play, the talent on both sides of the ball and the excellent coaching staff would still put enough faith in me that they could manage to win a handful of games.
So perhaps in 2024, a 6-11 record would look like wins against the Cardinals, Bears, Raiders, Vikings, Seahawks, and Patriots.
Now, let's look at some better news...
Ceiling: 13-4
Could it be? Could the Los Angeles Rams win 13 games in the 2024 NFL Season? I think they could. Everything would have to go right for this to happen, but it's not like it can't. The team went 10-7 last year after a 3-6 start. To begin the year 3-6, only to finish it 7-1, is quite impressive.
OK, so, common sense would tell us that the 2023 team was good enough to finish 7-1. Well, did they get better in the offseason? It's hard to say no. Major additions along the offensive line, defensive line, and secondary have this roster in a better spot now than it was at any point in 2023.
What would stop them from losing four games? I mean, they probably lose one of their games with the 49ers in 2024. I also think losing to the Detroit Lions is very much possible. Losses to the Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills or Philadelphia Eagles also strike me as being in play.
The Rams won't go 17-0 by any means, but they don't have that tough of a schedule, and they do have several avenues available to win a ton of games. With having advantages at QB and head coach nearly every week, the LA Rams shouldn't have many troubles taking down many of their opponents. However, unlucky bounces here and there could be the deciding factor in a handful of games.
Nonetheless, the Rams have the firepower to win a ton of games in 2024.
