Even in a domed stadium, weather forecasts could impact Rams in Week 2

It's not nice to fool Mother Nature. But does Mother Nature plan a bit of mischief in Week 2?

When you're hot, you're hot. And when you're not, you're not. For the LA Rams, the furnace of Los Angeles, California was borne by the Los Angeles Chargers, the other tenant at SoFi Stadium. Instead of competing on a hot football field, the Rams played under the unfriendly dome of Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

One week later, the Rams are playing under a dome once more. But the heat has found the team, as the outside temperatures at State Farm Stadium at Glendale, Arizona are forecasted to skyrocket to 95 degrees at kickoff, and rise all the way to 97 degrees Fahrenheit before cooling off to 95 degrees as the game ends.

Okay, so it's a dome. How can the weather impact an indoor game?

Well, the chance of thunderstorms at the kickoff and throughout the game is slightly better than 50/50 odds. While the fans and teams will be protected from the worst that Mother Nature can throw their way, the chance of thunderstorms does toss a few wrinkles into the weather picture for the game.

Despite having one of the 'most reliable power grids in the nation,' a thunderstorm and the accompanying lightning strikes are just one bolt away from a power outage, and that could impact the game should an outage occur at State Farm Stadium.

The Rams certainly do not need any more surprises or unexpected turn of events. After nearly pulling off an underhanded upset on the road in Week 12, I really like the teams chances to even their record with a win this week. The Rams always seem to play the Arizona Cardinals tough, and this season should bring more of the same. The team, despite reeling from injuries, pushed the Detroit Lions into overtime before losing by a score of 26-20.

I simply do not view the Cardinals at the same level as that of the Lions. While anything can happen in Week 2, I think the hottest competition the Rams will face is the temperature outside of State Farm Stadium.

As always, thank you for reading.
