Day 3 of any NFL Draft is the final day of the three day event. And somehow, the powers that be designed NFL fans to be exhausted from all of the exhilaration from two prime time spectacularly entertaining evenings. But on Day 3, the remaining picks fly by at lightning speed.

The LA Rams managed to trade back on Day 2, but never lost that second pick in Round 3 in the process. Instead, the Rams deftly closed the gap from the 77th overall pick to the 167th overall pick by making a final selection at the 89th overall pick. That, coupled with getting a pick in Round 4 of the draft has shrunk that 90-pick gap down to 41 picks. Not bad. Of the 12 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft that the LA Rams managed to obtain, what picks do they have today?

  1. Round 4 128th overall (via Giants)
  2. Round 5 161st overall (via Texans)
  3. Round 5   167th overall (comp pick)
  4. Round 5   171st overall (comp pick)
  5. Round 5 177th overall (comp pick)
  6. Round 6   182nd overall
  7. Round 6   189th overall (via Titans)
  8. Round 7 223rd overall
  9. Round 7   234th overall (via Steelers)

If you had to describe the LA Rams outcome from Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft with a single word, what word would you use?

  1. Pragmatic
  2. Resourceful
  3. Unexpected
  4. Future-looking?

Well, those are not the typical words you might expect to find when discussing the Rams draft, are they?

Yes, those will do. The LA Rams have certain been surprising so far, almost as though some rogue fans have kidnapped LA Rams general manager Les Snead and force the Rams to draft players who wiill help the team in the trenches. So far the Rams have selected:

  1. 36 - IOL Steve Avila out of TCU
  2. 77 - EDGE Byron Young out of Tennessee
  3. 89 - DL Kobe Turner ouf of Wake Forest

The LA Rams have yet to address the need for a backup quarterback. And the Rams have yet to add any offensive weapons to the Rams roster, a point that many NFL analysts and talking heads discussed at length in the off-season.

The Rams have a lot of shopping to do over the next 36 hours. Despite the Rams roster now at 47, the Rams have 43 more players to sign up. Let's go shopping!
