Hero II; Byron Young

The call for the Rams to add a pass rusher from Rams fans has been loud and long. But have fans missed the contribution of rookie outside linebacker Byron Young? After all, this young outside linebacker has shown up large and in charge in the box score of multiple NFL games

While 3.0 quarterback sacks in seven games may not strike casual NFL fans as anything to get excited about, die-hard fans know that a rookie who can put up 3.0 quarterback sacks in their first seven NFL games is a rising star in the NFL.

What is so promising about Rams rookie Byron Young is the fact that he has flashed his true NFL potential, but he has not yet hit his true stride. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 250 pounds, Young is big enough to compete with a hand in the dirt. But he is at his best in a two-point stance. And he is producing like a veteran already.

Young has 3.0 quarterback sacks, 27 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and 13 quarterback hits in his first seven games. With each game, his production increases ever so slightly. Young has already earned NFL Rookie of the Week once, and that places him on an elite track in the NFL. Young can step up in any given game. Let's hope it's Week 8.
