The Los Angeles Rams seem to be preparing for life after Ernest Jones IV. Could they call up this AFC West team about a trade? If you missed the latest news about the Rams linebacker, here you go:
Sources: #Rams have granted linebacker Ernest Jones IV and his agents permission to seek a trade.

Jones, a 2025 free agent, is L.A.’s defensive play caller with 145 tackles and 4.5 sacks last year. Sides discussed an extension, but with no progress, Rams open to trade. pic.twitter.com/QaMkuDj0Ko
So, the Rams appear to be listening to some offers and may be willing to move Jones for the right price. The Rams have a logjam at inside linebacker, so Jones could be the odd-man out, as the Rams may not want to extend him for what he is asking. Overall, it's a sad situation, as Ernest Jones is quite good and was a menace in the middle of the LA Rams defense.
But at the end of the day, the NFL is a business, so them moving on from a player is not going to be all that surprising. In case you didn't see, here's some news out of the AFC West with the Denver Broncos:
With significant depth and talent at WR, Broncos are moving on from popular veteran Tim Patrick, per source.

Broncos are currently exploring trade possibilities for Patrick, who is generating strong interest on market in advance of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline. #9sports
The team is trying to trade veteran WR Tim Patrick, who has not played since 2021 due to season-ending injuries in 2022 and 2023. Still though, Patrick is a quality target who doesn't drop the ball and who had 104 receptions, 1,476 yards, and 11 touchdowns in 2020 and 2021. He's a nice WR3 option at this point in his career, and for the Rams, they should consider a trade here.
The Broncos need some help at inside linebacker, and while some may think that the Rams do not need more WR help, I'd argue that Patrick would be the third-best WR option on offense behind Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. The Rams did load up on defense this offseason, and I would argue that they now have more talent on that side of the ball than they do on offense.
LA may also be able to fetch a draft pick and Patrick from the Broncos for Ernest Jones IV. General Manager Les Snead should leave his options open with this roster. He's proven to be one of the best in the business, and he's never been afraid to make a huge move.
Why not make this one?
