NFC quarterback power rankings: Where does Matthew Stafford rank for 2024?
Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford is clearly one of the best passers in the NFL, but where does he rank in his own conference? Stafford is set to play in his age-36 season in the NFL, and he may be down to his last couple of efficient years. On paper, Stafford did not light it up in 2023, but if you watched the games, you'll know that he was playing out of his mind.
The Rams shocked the league, as they finished the season 10-7 and earned a playoff spot. With another quality rookie class by GM Les Snead and a very active free agency period, the LA Rams may be ready to make another deep playoff run, and they aren't going to do that without some elite QB play.

NFC quarterback power rankings: Where does Matthew Stafford rank for 2024?
Who are the Top Five quarterbacks in the NFC? The NFC Western Division boasts three of the five:
5. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Have we forgotten about just how good Kyler Murray is? No, OK! He's an insane, dual-threat passer who was coming off of a major injury. Murray tore his ACL in 2022, so that season and the 2023 season were cut short. Now that Murray will be two years removed from the injury and now has Marvin Harrison Jr to throw to, I expect the first overall pick to have the best year of his career.
He's got a solid tackle situation as well with Paris Johnson and Jonah Williams, so that is surely going to help things. Folks may be forgetting about prime Kyler Murray, but he'll remind the NFL just how much of a problem he is when the 2024 season begins.
4. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy is a very good quarterback, and it's a truth that people need to simply start accepting as fact. Both Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers offensive system are great, so it's an awesome situation for head coach Kyle Shanahan, who does not have to put a leash on Purdy like he did with Jimmy Garoppolo for years.
Purdy and the Niners made it to the Super Bowl in 2023, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. It was the second time the Niners and Chiefs met in the Super Bowl, but KC has won both games. Can Purdy and the Niners make another Super Bowl run in 2024, or will this next QB have something to say about that?
3. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Your Los Angeles Rams starting quarterback, Matthew Stafford, ranks third in the NFC among quarterbacks. He's still very good and may have a couple more years left in the tank. Stafford and the Rams surprised many this past season, going 10-7 and making the postseason. The Rams find themselves right back in the Super Bowl contention window with how they've rebuilt this team since winning it all in 2021.
Does Stafford have enough left in the tank to take the Rams back to the big game?
2. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff has thrown 59 touchdown passes over the last two seasons and has helped the Detroit Lions turn into one of the best teams in the NFL. I have long predicted this offseason that the Lions are going to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, and with Goff having played in one about six years ago, it'd really be no surprise if they made it back.
Goff was kind of thrown away by the LA Rams a few years ago when they acquired Matthew Stafford, but he's reinvigorated his career with Detroit and inked a fresh contract extension this offseason. How do Rams fans feel about Jared Goff?
1. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Currently the best and most efficient QB in the NFC is Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys. You may not be high on Prescott due to his poor playoff performances, but in terms of simply playing the position, he's the best in the conference at the moment. At this point in time, the Cowboys and Prescott have not agreed on any sort of long-term extension, which may be a bit surprising to some.
I do not believe it's outrageous to suggest that Prescott is in a different uniform for 2025 and beyond. He threw a whopping 36 touchdown passes against nine interceptions in 2023. He set the Cowboys franchise record for TD passes.
