What are the Los Angeles Rams' 2025 NFL Draft needs after Week 3?
The Los Angeles Rams' needs in the 2025 NFL Draft may be obvious even with it being the end of Week 3 in 2024. The stellar NFL Draft work of Les Snead in recent years as the Los Angeles Rams humming with young talent, but the job is never finished.
The Rams still do have some long-term needs, and even though we're now in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL Season, the Rams' future needs for the 2025 NFL Draft are obvious. Let's get into their top three needs for the 2025 NFL Draft after Week 3.
What are the Los Angeles Rams' 2025 NFL Draft needs after Week 3?
While the list of roster needs can fluctuate week to week, the team has some general needs that surpass the temporary deficits created by injuries. So let's take a look at some roster needs that appear weekly, no matter who is suited up and starting:
Tight End
The Los Angeles Rams definitely need some more production at tight end. The Rams had apparently desired Brock Bowers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, so that kind of told you then what they felt about their current TE room. Tyler Higbee is just a guy on this point and is still on the PUP list, and there is no other viable TE of note for the Rams to devleop for the long-term.
The best tight end projected in the 2025 NFL Draft class is Colston Loveland from Michigan, and if the Rams had eyes on Bowers in the first round in 2024, that tells us they have no issues taking a first-round TE. They could eye-up Loveland and may be able to have him fall into their laps.
Cornerback
The LA Rams truly overhauled their secondary in the 2024 NFL Offseason, but Darious Williams is on injured reserve, and Tre'Davious white is allowing an opposing passer rating of 143.1 Not only do the Rams need to make a CB change now, but the long-term need at the position is a must. With the NFL being more and more of a pass-happy league, emphasis is put on the secondary, and defenses are constantly trotting out nickel and dime defenses.
Teams are truly needing multiple starting-caliber cornerbacks and safeties to get by on defense. The LA Rams did take safety Kamren Kinchens in the 2024 NFL Draft, and I would imagine that General Manager Les Snead has his eyes on both the free agency CB market and NFL Draft cornerback class.
Figuring out the secondary for 2025 could be one of the remaining needs on this roster.
Inside Linebacker
I am not sure the Los Angeles Rams wanted to trade ILB Ernest Jones IV, but here we are. Jones is now on the Tennessee Titans and has 25 total tackles through three games.
It's funny; the inside linebacker position isn't quite as valuable to NFL defenses as it once was, but if you look across the NFL, the best defenses are stout in the middle. The free agency market at inside linebacker is never really stocked up with high-end players, so Les Snead may have to take to the 2025 NFL Draft to find a stud ILB.
The Rams list Troy Reeder and Christian Rozeboom as their starting inside linebackers, which is just not a viable situation that they can continue with in future seasons. The Los Angeles Rams must again bring in some young and promising talent at ILB. Snead has been able to do this with the defensive line in recent NFL Drafts, and he's going to need to do it at ILB in 2025.
