What channel is the Texans-Rams game on today? Start time, announcers, and more
By Bret Stuter
When it comes to thrilling NFL teams bursting with young talent, I don't think you can find two teams that top that category than the LA Rams and the Houston Texans. While you could argue that the two teams are dissimilar, both have shared almost parallel narratives in 2023. And that competition for the spotlight is likely to continue well into the 2024 NFL season.
The Texans are powered by second-year QB CJ Stroud on the offensive side of the football (2023 OROY) and OLB Will Anderson on the defensive side of the football (2023 DROY). The Rams counter by returning second-year WR Puka Nacua, the NFL All-Time Rookie Receiving Record holder, as well as NT Kobie Turner and OLB Byron Young. Turner, who led all rookies in 2023 in quarterback sacks, despite playing at the interior defensive line position, was viewed by many as the true 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Yeat. But this game will not settle the debate, as none of these players will likely see any action.
Of course, you will also need to know how to watch the game.

If you have had the pleasure of viewing the Rams-centric broadcast team, you know that this group rivals that of the best regular-season broadcast booths. The Rams will once again feature a dynamic pairing of former NFL Network anchor Andrew Siciliano on the play-by-play, joined by ESPN's NFL analyst Mina Kimes and Maurice Jones-Drew for color commentary. ABC7's Curt Sandoval will take on the duties of the sideline reporter. Former Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth stated that he would not be covering the game today.
Texans Content
- Play-by-Play: Mark Vandermeer
- Color Analysts: ND Kalu and John Harris
- Sideline reporter: Drew Dougherty
The Texans have had a successful preseason so far. And that has only fueled the fires of optimism and added to the hunger for postseason success for this team. But for this team, Game 4 in their preseason schedule is more about giving players a look to see who can round out the bottom of the roster. Texans fans will get their play-by-play from Mark Vandermeer, while enjoying the combination of ND Kalu and John Harris on the color commentary. And Drew Dougherty will be covering the game from the sidelines once more.
Rams and Texans recent outcomes:
The LA Rams are still waiting for an error-free game from QB Stetson Bennett. In the meantime, he has let the Rams to two come-from-behind victories in two preseason games. Of course, he has had plenty of help. The Rams' backup offensive line is getting all of the preseason work, and they have proven to be very formidable. The Rams also boast WRs Jordan Whittington (11 catches, 126 yards) and Xavier Smith (9 catches, 67 yards), who are among the top receivers in the NFL in the preseason so far. So too, the Rams have incredible production from both RBs Boston Scott (25 rushes, 123 yards, 4.9s YPC) and Zach Evans (28 rushes, 90 yards, 3.21 YPC).
The Texans are also on the cusp of a two game winning streak in the preseason. They are powered by WRs Xavier Hutchinson (8 catches, 80 yards) and John Metchie (8 catches, 79 yards, 1 TD), as well as former Rams RB Cam Akers (17 rushes, 59 yards, 3.47 YPC)
But this game will be decided by the two stingy defenses. The Texans defense has average just 14.3 points allowed per game in three preseason games so far. The Rams defense has done them one better, allowing just 10.5 points per game in two preseason games, and not allowing a single touchdown to be scored against them.
Two great defenses. Two hungry teams. It's the perfect recipe for a great football game.
