What do we know about the Rams from a fast moving Week 4 so far?

Some good, some bad. it's another game of white knuckles and sitting at the edge of your seat.

The LA Rams are already through one quarter in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears, so what are we seeing from the team so far? Well, for the first time this season, the Rams have taken an early lead in the game. While it's not a huge lead, it's the first time in the season that the Rams have jumped out and held on for a scoring advantage in this one.

The Rams want to put up a solid lead and then let their pass rush loose on a young pass-centric offense. There is no Cooper Kupp in this game, so the Rams offense has to scrape and claw to get yards in this one.

While it's still far too early to get a full temperature reading on this game, there are enough positive clues in this one to cite some observations. So far, they are positive.

(3) - Rams are content to run RB Kyren Williams early

The offense has rushed with the football seven times. All seven carries have been by RB Kyren Williams. While effective, my concern with the offensive game plan fixating on RB Kyren Williams is growing. The Rams have rushed Williams seven times. Hopefully, there are provisions to get either Ronnie Rivers or rookie RB Blake Corum involved in the game.

Williams is incredibly valuable to this offense. It's unwise to burn him out early and increase the odds of injury that would force the team to limit their offense to the other running backs later in the season. And yet, that is what the team risks.

(2) - Rams distributing passes to everyone

In the first quarter, veteran QB Matthew Stafford has completed six of seven passes. Of the six completions, they have been throwing to: WR Jordan Whittington (2 of 2), WR Demarcus Robinson (1 of 1), TE Colby Parkinson (2 of 3), and RB Kyren Williams (1 of 1).

As expected in the windy confines. the Rams are content to limit their passes to short completions, But the Rams receivers can still put up yards after the catch.

(1) - Rams rookie kicker Joshua Karty still kicking well

The Rams wanted to get far better in the red zone in 2024, but that is not happening in Week 4. Thankfully, the Rams offense has rookie kicker Joshua Karty to fall back on. Not only did Karty hit on a season long 46-yard field goal. Almost immediately after the second quarter began, the Rams were able to put up their second field goal of the game.

The LA Rams are getting some offensive movement, but this is by no means a game that is solidly in hand.

The Rams need to toughen up on offense and stop making penalties on defense.

As always, thanks for reading.
