I: How quickly will HC Sean McVay set LA Rams winningest coach record?
It's amazing to realize that after all of the great teams and great head coaches of the Los Angeles Rams football team franchise, Rams Head Coach Sean McVay is almost certainly about to become the winningest head coach in the history of the franchise. He has already surpassed legendary Rams Head Coach 'Ground' Chuck Knox, and is now within striking distance of surpassing former Rams Head Coach John Robinson for the top spot.
Curiously, Coach McVay is the Rams winningest head coach in postseason competition, with seven wins. Only former Rams HC Dick Vermeil has known the sweet success of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Vermeil is undefeated in the NFL Playoffs with the Rams, boasting a record of 3-0. McVay holds a record of 7-4 in the NFL Playoffs.
As of right now, Coach Robinson holds the top spot among Rams winningest head coaches with 75 wins and 68 losses. Coach McVay is closing fast, currently with 70 wins to only 45 losses. To surpass Robinson, McVay needs six wins.
We know that means that the team will not get McVay his sixth win until after the Week 6 BYE. But how much longer will the team, and fans, need to wait until McVay breaks the record? Well, if the team follows our game-by-game predictions of their 2024 NFL schedule, it won't be too long. But we never factored in the team starting the season without both starting offensive tackles, trading away their starting veteran inside linebacker, nor only getting the starting secondary on the football field altogether just days before Week 1 arrives.
So, even if we factor in those variables, we can say with some confidence that Thanksgiving Day 2024 will truly be a day of giving thanks in the McVay household. By that point in the season, HC Sean McVay will have 76+ wins, and be eying up another Super Bowl appearance.
As always, thanks for reading.
