The Los Angeles Rams may or may not be sizing up the prospects of selecting a rookie quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. The class is not particularly talented in the sense that they are clearly plug-and-play ready in the NFL. But Los Angeles is a unique situation. The team needs a quarterback successor, but has the timeline to allow for a rookie to arrive and ramp up for the pros for a season.
Knowing this, Los Angeles has an advantage in the 2026 NFL Draft that other teams do not. Their rookie prospect can develop for a season in the NFL. And so, such names as Miami quarterback Carson Beck and Penn State quarterback Drew Allar become real possibilities to end up in LA.
And Carson Beck is taking his shot at persuading The Horns to make him their top choice:

It was not a gratuitous comment. Beck, like many quarterback prospects, has plenty to learn about quarterback play in the NFL by watching Matthew Stafford perform. There is plenty to glean from one offensive series, and NFL hopefuls can only hope to emulate his no-looks pass into the outstretched arms of a wide receiver someday.
Beck merely placed that hope into words.
Miami's Carson Beck remains an intriguing quarterback option for Rams
While currently an early Day 3 projection, there is enough about Miami quarterback Carson Beck to make him a bit more appealing to the LA Rams than other NFL teams. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, he has the prototypical staturesque pocket presence to see everything unfold downfield.
LA specializes in pocket passers.
Another fact that links Beck to LA is the fact that he was a former teammate and rival of current backup quarterback Stetson Bennett. Bennett won that competition in Georgia, but Beck would get the benefit of having the synergy of learning the ropes from Bennett.
As well as renewing their competition for playing time.
Beck struggles with the deep pass, something that he must correct for NFL teams to warm up to him. But Los Angeles has a coaching staff of quarterback whisperers that they trust, and a perceived timeline to ensure Beck's optimal self is ready for the 2026 NFL season.
Selecting Beck could allow the team to promote Stetson Bennett to the primary backup quarterback role and slide Beck into the third quarterback slot. Bennett showcased the ability to run the offense over the past two preseasons. Perhaps it's time to roll the dice.
With 10 picks to spend, now is about as good a time as any.
As always, thanks for reading.
