Rams should already have Kenneth Walker III circled on their schedule

The Los Angeles Rams face the Chiefs on Thursday Night Football in Week 13, and now they have even more reason to circle the matchup after watching Kenneth Walker III run all over the esteemed Broncos defense. 

The reigning Super Bowl MVP finished the night with 173 yards on 23 carries, plus a touchdown, and added three catches for 18 yards and a receiving score. The star of the game wasn't Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nix, Travis Kelce, or Denver edge rusher Nick Bonitto. 

It was Walker, by a mile. That December meeting is a long way away, but after being gouged on the ground in Week 1, the Rams need to highlight Walker's name in red ink. 

Kenneth Walker, you have Rams fans' attention

The 49ers trampled Chris Shula's run defense for 174 yards, led by Christian McCaffrey and rookie Kaelon Black. No one on the Rams' side of the ball - not the defensive line, not the linebackers - put up much of a fight. 

The good news: they have 12 weeks to right the ship before facing Walker and the Chiefs, and Walker is no longer on the Seahawks. Dealing with him once this season should be more than enough. 

And, yes, Jadarian Price looks like a nice draft find for Seattle, but watching Walker bulldoze the Broncos into oblivion has to sting just a little.

That's the type of back who can carry a backup quarterback to victory, which will be of keen interest for the Seahawks while Sam Darnold recovers from a glute injury. He's expected to miss some time, and Drake Maye won't be there to giftwrap the football every week. 

Rams fans were already looking forward to playing Kansas City due to its revenge-game billing with former Chiefs cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson now in Los Angeles. We already knew about Mahomes, but if Walker looks like that, the defense will have both hands full. Including the Super Bowl, Walker has rushed for over 300 yards in his past two games. 

The game against the Chiefs is, of course, nowhere near the minds of Shula, head coach Sean McVay, or Rams defenders as they look to rebound against the Giants after a humiliating Week 1 loss.

And actually, New York looks like a much tougher opponent than expected after a commanding win over the Cowboys that wasn't as close as the 28-20 final score suggests. 

Hopefully we're talking about this team a lot differently, and specifically the run defense, when Week 13 rolls around.
