The Los Angeles Rams have business to take care of on Monday night when they "host" the Minnesota Vikings in the last playoff game of Wild Card Weekend. The game will be played in Arizona due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles but the show must go on, as they say in the theatrical world.
The Rams have a tough task ahead of them, as the Vikings lost just three games all season long and were one win shy of being the number one overall seed in the NFC playoffs. Fortunately for the Rams, one of those three losses the Vikings suffered was against this Rams squad.
Now it's worth noting that a lot has changed since that Week 8 win but it's still good to know that this Rams squad is capable of not just hanging with the Vikings but beating them. If they make it two-for-two this season, who is next on the playoff schedule for the Rams?
Who will the Rams play in the divisional round if they knock off the Vikings?
With the Commanders winning their wild card match-up over the Buccaneers, that means that Washington would head up north to play the Detroit Lions while the winner of the Rams/Vikings game would get to play their divisional round game in Philadelphia against the feisty Eagles.
Washington is the worst-seed remaining in the postseason so that's why the Commanders get the honor of playing the one-seeded Lions while the Rams or Vikings would get the second-seeded Eagles.
Unfortunately for the Rams, their regular-season game against Philadelphia did not go as well as their previous one against the Vikings did. The Rams dropped that game by double-digits (37-20) and Saquon Barkley is still probably ripping off another long touchdown run against LA's defense somewhere.
Let's just hope that the Rams have a chance to avenge that loss and can work their work into the NFC Championship Game, a place that this franchise has become familiar with being since Sean McVay took over as the head coach. That being said, the last time the Rams made it to the NFC title game was in the 2021 season when they beat the 49ers and then went on to take down the Bengals in the Super Bowl.
All you have to do is get to those games and then anything can happen. Rams fans are hoping for some magic over these next few weeks.
