It's the final countdown, the point of the NFL season where all preseason games are in the history books, and the next 72 hours will be saturated with news of the Los Angeles Rams roster transactions. It's a busy time for all 32 NFL teams, as they scramble to shed players from a 90-man training camp limit to get down to the 53-man limit for the regular season.

The Rams team has been bursting with fierce competition throughout training camp and the preseason. The team simply does not have enough roster slots to keep everyone, setting up for some incredibly difficult decisions for the coaching staff. Still, it comes as no surprise. From the moment the Rams drafted six rookies in the 2025 NFL Draft, the stage was set for this moment.

The Rams lost the game by a score of 19-17. But this was about finishing off the preseason with players who needed extra work to attract interest from other NFL teams. And to the team's credit, the game pitted Rams players buried on the depth chart against Browns starters. This game had no business being close, but it was. That bodes well for the passion of the players who had little more to play for beyond the love of the game.

Rams final projected depth chart sheds future starters

On offense, a couple of clues were given to perceptive fans. RB Blake Corum sat out, as did WR Xavier Smith. Offensive linemen who sat out Game 3 included Beaux Limmer, Justin Dedich, David Quessenberry, and Warren McClendon Jr. The projected roster has a solid group of playmakers, but ensures a solid group of offensive linemen to endure the rigors of a long 17-game season.

There were plenty of playmakers in Game 3, but the decisions were primarily made before the preseason finale. The defense generated six quarterback sacks, limited the offense to 121 net passing yards, and the Browns' running backs to just 85 yards. Many of the stars from the Rams' defense will be back on the practice squad. One player who made his move was safety Tanner Ingle, who made multiple plays while Rams HC Sean McVay was on headset. He called Ingle 'a human missile,' which was very accurate.
