The Los Angeles Rams are one of the most dominant teams in the NFL. They've been rolling through their opponents, riding an electric offense and a strong defense to a 5-2 record.

But there's one major issue threatening their spot among the elite. A few of the Rams' most impactful players are rapidly approaching the end of their careers. When Matthew Stafford and Rob Havenstein are gone, this team could look completely different.

If they're going to continue to be contenders, the Rams must make good on their early draft picks in the coming seasons.

Luckily, they'll have two first-round picks in 2026 after their draft-day trade with the Atlanta Falcons. It's still early in the year, but Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano is making a strong case to become one of those selections.

Spencer Fano could be Rams' offensive tackle of the future

Los Angeles needs reinforcements on the offensive line in a big way. The unit has performed above expectations this year, but it could be losing multiple key pieces soon. Havenstein has been kept off the field in recent weeks by an ankle injury, and he'll be a free agent after the season. Even if he comes back for another year, it's time to bring in a replacement for the veteran.

Fano entered the season as one of the top-ranked prospects in college football. He's dropped down draft boards a bit this year after a bumpy start, but he still has the tools to be successful in the NFL. The offensive tackle is a bit undersized at 302 pounds, but he's one of the most athletic linemen you'll see. He's able to stick with even the most explosive edge rushers, protecting his quarterback from harm. Despite his relative lack of size, the Utah prospect is able to move defenders in the run game.

Beyond his physical abilities, Fano plays with a unique intensity that makes him easy to notice.

The young lineman has experience at both right and left tackle and could likely play at either spot in the NFL.

He's only a junior, so he could choose to return for another year of college football. But if he does enter the draft, the Rams should strongly consider taking him. If Los Angeles can develop Fano into a quality starter and find a long-term replacement for Stafford, they could seamlessly transition into another era of winning football.
