The LA Rams (10-7) must face the Minnesota Vikings (14-3) at a neutral site of State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The NFL deemed that due to wildfires burning and threatening the entire Los Angeles, California community, the game should be moved to a safe but convenient distance. For Wild Card Weekend, the Rams are the home team on paper, but the road team as well.
No, I'm not complaining. The Rams have faced tougher obstacles and adversity to get to this point of the NFL season. The this resilient Rams roster has scratched and clawed its way to the postseason. Even now, as both teams tune up for the last time before the kickoff, there is a sense among the players and coaching staff that this team is not done yet.
And their pre-game hype video is perfectly time to emphasize the point.
This is an important game for both teams. Both Rams HC Sean McVay and Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell are long-standing friends and former colleagues. Even the future of both starting quarterbacks will be impacted by the outcome of this game. So don't look for either team to pull any punches or hold anything back.
As in all NFL Playoff games, it's win, or go home.
It is particularly painful for players to be deemed inactive before the start of any postseason contest. The act of falling to the list of inactives in such an important game eliminates any chance of competing or contributing. So who is inactive for these two teams?
Inactives list for the Vikings in Wild Card Weekend (Official)
- QB Daniel Jones
- OL Dan Feeney
- DL Levi Drake Rodriguez
- OT Walter Rouse
- OLB Pat Jones II
And they have been announced:But
The Minnesota Vikings will hold nothing in reserve in this game, as they understand the meaning of win or go home. But veteran OLB Pat Jones is a minor blow to the Vikings' defense, as he has 39 tackles and 7.0 quarterback sacks for the team in 2024.
Inactives list for Rams in Week 17 (Official)
- OL Justin Dedich
- DT Tyler Johnson
- IOLB Brennan Jackson
- CB Emmanuel Forbes
- OL Joe Noteboom.
- QB Stetson Bennett
While the Rams inactives are rather expected, the team has chosen to sit swing tackle Joe Noteboom as well as rookie interior offensive lineman Justin Dedich for this one.
The Rams had activated OLB Keir Thomas for the game. But there are conflicting reports over the status of veteran RB Royce Freeman. Initially, it was reported that he was activated for the game. So, the team will like face the Vikings with RB Kyren Williams handling the load, while backup RB Ronnie Rivers rotates in as a relief and change of pace rusher.
Win or lose, fans have every reason in the world to be exceptionally proud of this team. This was not an easy season. And as the pregame video states very effectively, it's Not Over Yet.
As always, thanks for reading.
