The Los Angeles Rams are going all-in on a Super Bowl, which is why they decided to make the move for defensive end Myles Garrett. This is the best defensive player in the NFL, so having him in the mix is such a boost for this roster.
He's coming off a season where he notched an NFL-record 23 sacks, and former Rams defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh thinks there's another gear that Garrett can hit in Los Angeles. During an appearance on Good Morning Football, he was asked if Garrett can break his own sack record, and Suh thinks it's a possibility.
"I think without question. I think that record could be in jeopardy 'cause one, you have a great quarterback that can lead that offense. Give him [Garrett] plenty of rest that he's going to be fresh 90 percent of the time he's going out for a series."
Suh added that bringing in All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie will also help, as his lockdown coverage will force quarterbacks to hold onto the ball a tick longer, giving Garrett extra time to get home. Hold onto your britches.
Ndamukong Suh has high hopes for Myles Garrett with Rams
When you think about it, Suh is right. Garrett is finally playing for a team that has a productive offense. During his time with the Browns, he could rarely pin his ears back to rush the quarterback because Cleveland was trailing most of the time. That led to teams running the ball more, limiting his chances.
He will have plenty of chances in Los Angeles. The Rams' offense has a habit of controlling the game. And that's scary for the rest of the league. In nine seasons, Garrett has compiled 125.5 sacks, with eight straight seasons in double-digits.
The Browns had only two winning seasons during Garrett's time there. That he still wrought havoc on a weekly basis shows just how dominant a player he is.
Coming into Los Angeles with an offense led by Sean McVay and Matt Stafford will give him something he has never had. A potent unit on the opposite side of the ball, allowing the defense to stay fresh throughout the game, will only give Garrett more energy. Thrust into a negative game script, the opposing team will have to pass more often. Garrett will be a well-fed man.
Suh is right in his assessment that Garrett is perfectly capable of surpassing his own record. If he can do all that in Cleveland, imagine what can happen with the Rams. Incredible as it seems, there's a real chance he does it, whether in 2026 or sometime down the line.
