All eyes have been on the L.A. Rams and two of their top names this offseason.
After agreeing on a new deal with quarterback Matthew Stafford that sees the veteran stick around, the Rams' next big order of business is to figure out what the future holds for wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
While it looks like a trade is in the near future for Kupp, the Rams made a different decision in regards to their wide receiver room on Thursday.
Los Angeles agreed to re-sign wide receiver Tutu Atwell on a fully-guaranteed 1-year contract worth $10 million.
The Rams have more than just a Cooper Kupp decision to make after re-signing Tutu Atwell
Following the decision to bring back Atwell, the Rams still have plenty of work to do when it comes to the wide receiver position.
It isn't even just the Kupp situation at hand, either.
The Rams have a pair of other free agent wide receivers they must make a call on. Both Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson are set to enter free agency, but the Rams could choose to bring them back as well.
With Stafford returning and Puka Nacua not going anywhere, it might make sense to at least bring back one of Robinson or Johnson, alongside Atwell and the aforementioned Nacua. Keeping some continuity in-house for Stafford is a wise game plan.
When Kupp and Nacua went down at separate times with injury last year, it was Robinson and Johnson who stepped up at different moments along with rookie Jordan Whittington and, yes, Atwell.
The Rams' wide receiver room might have some under-the-radar types, but Stafford certainly made the most of his weapons last year. Once again, there is something to be said about maintaining continuity.
Atwell might not be the only Rams wide receiver to be retained, and if L.A. can get another deal done before Johnson or Robinson enter free agency, that takes some stress off in that area.
