As fans of the Los Angeles Rams patiently await news, leaks, and rumors of the 2026 NFL schedule, we can fill the time by surveying the upcoming opponents and judging which games may be significantly impacted by timing. That's right, the timing of games often proves to have a significant outcome. Here's why:

It's common knowledge that facing any NFL team after it enjoys a mid-season BYE is dangerous. But two teams that compete on Thursday Night Football will enjoy a mini-bye of 10 days each week as well. And then there are the teams whose roster is loaded with rookies. Those teams are better faced early, when rookies are simply getting used to the NFL's physicality and rapid pace.

And then there is the risk of facing a surprisingly hot team during its winning streak. That can be quite dangerous later in the season, as NFL teams sometimes get stronger as the playoffs near. Those games are better to be played earlier in the season. And then, there are the elements, time zones, and travel.

So let's dive right into the 2026 opponents on the Rams schedule that could be most dangerous, depending on when they appear on the schedule:

4 Rams opponents whose timing could be extremely dangerous

4. Los Angeles Rams at Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders selected rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft. But the Raiders plan to sit him behind veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. For how long? That's the question. If LA faces Cousins, it could be a bit of a problem. But if the timing is such that it faces an inexperienced Mendoza, that could work out in its favor.

3. Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

Any repeat of a playoff game holds plenty of pitfalls. But Los Angeles lost both games played in Seattle over the span of five weeks by a total margin of five points. So this game will be ultra competitive. So what makes this one so special? The two opponents were oh-so-close in 2025, but a schedule anomaly like facing the Seahawks on a short week could be huge.

Ideally, the Rams would love to be rested, healthy, and not face the Seahawks amidst a string of road games.

2. Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams

It seems as though the Dallas Cowboys win every offseason, only to struggle when the season starts. Coming off a record of 7-9-1 in 2025, Dallas wants to flip the script this season. And they always seem to dominate the number of prime-time appearances. But they may be dangerous this season, and would love nothing better than to defeat LA on prime time in Los Angeles to make a bold statement to the NFL

Facing Dallas after the first four games and before the postseason push would be ideally timed for this game.

1: Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles

That Blizzard Bowl at Lincoln Financial Field would have been far more enjoyable had the Horns emerged with the victory. But LA would be far better suited to face Philly early this year, before the white stuff starts flying. Let's face it. Traveling and time zones give the Eagles plenty of advantages, without the team trying to adjust to bitterly cold temperatures or blizzard conditions.

It's tough enough to win in Philly. Let's not pit Mother Nature against the Yellow and Blue as well.

As always, thanks for reading.
