The Los Angeles Rams just missed out on reaching the Super Bowl a season ago. It was a tough pill to swallow, especially considering that fans had to watch the rival Seattle Seahawks go on to win it all.
The Rams are fortunate to have a great roster as they enter 2026, but what could make their team even better? Well, adding a true WR3, of course.
Matt Bowen of ESPN gave them just that in his latest article, where he listed the best fits for some of the top remaining names in free agency. Bowen said the best fit for Stefon Diggs was in L.A. with the Rams.
"...I really like him in L.A. alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. The Rams attempted 430 passes out of 11 personnel (three wide receivers) last season, which was (the) ninth most in the league, and Diggs is a natural separator who can line up inside or outside. Plus, he has the toughness to work the middle of the field on in-breaking concepts, a key element of coach Sean McVay's offense."
Los Angeles loves to run multiple tight ends. But would the offense revert to more 11-personnel success with a wide receiver upgrade? Perhaps we will soon find out.
ESPN says Stefon Diggs could make sense with the Rams
Diggs might not be the player he once was,m but he's still pretty talented in the right system. He's coming off a very productive year with the Patriots, too, having finished the season with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.
Considering he'd be competing for targets with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, he certainly doesn't match that production in Los Angeles, but he'd be a massive upgrade over Jordan Whittington. Giving Matthew Stafford all of the help he can get in what could be his final year makes a ton of sense as the Rams go all-in, so bringing Diggs in would be one last swing for the fences.
Diggs is known to be a bit of a diva, however, and that's one of the big downsides here. That being said, the Rams have had divas on their roster before and managed just fine, so maybe it's not a huge worry. If there's a chance to bring a talented WR3 to L.A. and give Stafford another big weapon, why not go big or go home?
