The 9-3 Los Angeles Rams are known across the NFL as a pass-happy team. The offense is powered by starting quarterback Matthew Stafford throwing to wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. And for a new wrinkle, the offense has exploited secondaries by overpowering them with 12- and 13-personnel formations.

All the while, the offense seemed to overlook the production of running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Well, until now.

After a Week 13 performance in which the running backs rushed 20 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns to average 7.6 yards per carry, the team is back at it again. The offense is suddenly aware of the capability of running the football. In the first half of Week 14, the team has rushed 14 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

Los Angeles seems to measure twice before changing offensive strategies, and the pivot to a rushing offense appears to fall into that category. The offensive line is seldom lauded, but the group is firing out and run-blocking effectively. In the past six NFL quarters, LA's running backs have rushed 34 times for 262 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Outstanding is one word that comes to mind.

Why the Rams need to run effectively now

The weather is cooling off. And so far, both wide receiver Puka Nacua and Davante Adams have had to fight off injuries. Nacua is vital to this offense, as he is consistently effective at gaining huge chunks of yardage in every game.

While the team has benefited from Davante Adams' uncanny durability, he has appeared on the Rams injury report multiple times this season.

The Week 14 performance by LA's running game has been incredible. The offense has scored on every possession. While the totals are not final, RB Kyren Williams is nearing another 1000+ yards season. Meanwhile, Blake Corum is nearly 500+ rushing yards., With the team vulnerable to fatigue as the season winds down, fresh sparks of life from the rushing attack is a welcome sight indeed.

Fans love to see a dominating rushing offense. And the team is finally countering the defenses' willingness to sell completely to stop the pass. The running backs seem to be impossible to stop in Wek 14. By demonstrating this level of rushing efficiency, the offense has added an anti-freeze element to its offense.

As always, thanks for reading.
