The Los Angeles Rams were expected to be Super Bowl contenders in 2026. But after trading for Myles Garrett, they now find themselves the clear favorites to win it all. Suddenly, scheduling the Rams for an NFL record-tying seven prime-time games makes complete sense.
LA was oh-so-close to winning it all last season. Smelling blood in the water with a mostly lackluster offseason from the defending champion Seahawks, the Horns have escalated their Super Bowl pursuit to a feeding frenzy.
They have gone above and beyond fans' expectations by landing All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, his Chiefs teammate Jaylen Watson, and now the blockbuster for Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
That's what you call prime-time television, folks!
NFL schedulers have a difficult task in trying to predict which teams will offer the most compelling product to stage on nationwide telecasts. Well, they hit the jackpot by promoting Los Angeles on seven different occasions. With this Rams roster already setting records, fans who seldom tune in for football will be drawn to watch. Get ready for some record-setting viewership figures to boot.
Everyone will want to catch defending MVP and DPOY in action
Intentional or not, the Rams just cornered the NFL market in terms of must-see TV. If casual fans aren't tuning in to see the team and cheer them on to victory, they will tune in to see the defending MVP and DPOY in Matthew Stafford and Garrett.
Ironically, Stafford and Garrett are just the tip of the entertainment iceberg for the Yellow and Blue. This crew has a bevy of attractions to offer.
Puka Nacua is under the microscope more than ever. Davante Adams, a future Hall of Fame candidate, is seeking his ring; that's a storyline to tug at the heartstrings. Edge rusher Byron Young, the team's sacks leader last season, is entering a contract year. He has every incentive to ball out on the big stage.
The offense as a whole might be the best show going. The Rams should pile up points again this season after topping the league a year ago. Now, the defense has the star power to keep pace. Over the last three seasons, that unit has mostly consisted of young players hoping to make names for themselves. No longer.
With an infusion of elite talent, the 2025 defense rivals that of the 2021 team, which brought a Lombardi Trophy to Los Angeles. Who wouldn't want to witness history being made? The NFL schedulers may not have known what Rams general manager Les Snead was up to, but you can bet ratings will go up whenever LA plays.
As always, thanks for reading.
