This has been quite the week for the LA Rams.

It's been quite the week around the NFL, but the Rams have been center stage for arguably the league's biggest domino which needed to fall before additional moves were to happen at the quarterback position.

It's been all about Matthew Stafford at the Combine, and on Friday, the team was indeed able to agree with Stafford on a reworked contract that will keep him under center in Los Angeles.

Now that Stafford is staying put, the rest of the league can proceed with their quarterback decisions. There were a few key teams whose future, at the position, hinged on Stafford's decision. Now, the likes of the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers can push forward with their Plan B.

Oh, right, the Cleveland Browns can, too.

Back to the Rams, who acted quickly after the Stafford news. One of their other big decisions, this offseason, comes in regards to starting left tackle Alaric Jackson, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Rams and Alaric Jackson have agreed on a contract extension

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported, Friday afternoon, that the Rams and Jackson are now closing in on a contract extension.

And then, Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz made it official. The Rams and Jackson have agreed on a 3-year, $57 million contract.

Once undrafted out of Iowa, Jackson has worked his way into being the starter, anchoring the left side of that offensive line in L.A. Last season, Jackson allowed three sacks on 893 offensive snaps played.

Related Rams news:

He is one of those rare tackles who is equally strong in pass protection as he is in run blocking and, fortunately for Stafford, he will be returning to the Rams as well.

Last season was a rough one up front. The Rams saw several injuries across their offensive line and, at one point, Stafford had complete no-names starting up front and trying to protect him. Stafford's performance through all the injury adversity is yet another reason why he had to be kept. Imagine what he'll be able to do if the Rams can stay healthier in that group for 2025.

Jackson, 26, is coming off his best season yet as a pro and is just now entering his prime. Even after Stafford is retired, having Jackson around as a building block for this offenisve line is going to be a luxury. This was a move the Rams knew they had to make, especially after locking down Stafford for the foreseeable future.
