A must-needed bye week for the Los Angeles Rams could position them to save their season, but these three opponents are going to be very tough. I had extremely high hopes for the Rams in 2024, especially with how they ended 2023, but injuries have derailed their season unfortunately.
I guess we should never say never, but I am about to say never...
If there is a chance that the Rams dig themselves out of this, they're going to have to do it immediately. And while they may have the infrastructure to do it, these three teams might present massive challenges.
Ranking the toughest remaining games on the LA Rams' schedule in 2024
Let's be honest. Right now, all of the games on the Rams schedule are going to be difficult. But here are the three games that jump off the page as brutally challenging.
3. Week 14 vs. Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills took down the New York Jets on Monday Night Football and are now 4-2 on the season. They feel like a lock to again win the AFC East. Buffalo did have to shed some veteran contracts this past offseason, so they appeared to be in more of a re-tooling year.
Well, them being 4-2 is quite the start. However, their two losses are against contenders in the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, so you do have to wonder if they can actually beat some of the more legit teams in the NFL.
Either way, the Buffalo Bills will be a tough out for the LA Rams.
2. Week 15 @ San Francisco 49ers
No matter just how much the LA Rams beat the San Francisco 49ers, they're always a very tough team to beat. They've dealt with some injuries this year as the Rams have, but the Niners have still managed to get to 3-3 on the year and are the first-place team in the NFC West.
Brock Purdy is proving to everyone why he's a top QB in the NFL, and there is a reason why the 49ers seem like a lock to at least make the NFC Championship Game nearly every season. The Los Angeles Rams have the personnel to matchup nicely with the 49ers, but their injury list is quite long.
If Los Angeles saves their season, the games across the final weeks of the season, especially the divisional ones, are going to be insanely tough.
1. Week 8 vs. Minnesota Vikings
Did anyone expect the Minnesota Vikings to be 5-0 through the first chunk of the season? I surely didn't. The team took JJ McCarthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and were probably thinking about giving him the starting job.
Well, he tore his meniscus and is now out for the year, so Sam Darnold has since been their starter, and all he's done is quarterbacked the 6th-best scoring offense in the NFL. Darnold has thrown 11 touchdowns and has a 103.4 passer rating. The defense is also among the best in the NFL, so the Vikings are simply the most complete team in the league at the moment.
They're undefeated for a reason but will travel to play the LA Rams in Week 8. This may end up being a must-win for the Rams, but it won't be easy. The Vikings' defense is especially great at disguising coverages and making life extremely difficult for opposing QBs.
Minnesota also has a top-10 running back and two no. 1 wide receivers on offense. This team is a total buzz-saw and will be a handful for the Rams to deal with in a couple of weeks.
