The latest data about LA Rams rookie center screams Geaux Beaux!
By Bret Stuter
Sure, the LA Rams are only .500 with a mid-season record at 4-4. And while the team is currently on a three-game winning streak, there are far too many football games to get over excited just yet. One game at a time, one week at a time. The Rams are back in the hunt for now. Is that enough to keep fans optimistic. Like many questions about this team, only time can tell.
So what do we know about this team? For starters, we are quickly learning just how well and thoroughly rookie offensive lineman Beaux Limmer is adapting to a starting role in the NFL. When the team selected him in Round 6 of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 217th overall pick, we were thrilled. We had mocked Limmer to the Rams in Round 5, and the fact that he dropped to the team in Round 6 was all the better.
Here's what we had to say when he was selected by the team:
"Beaux Limmer is more than just a backup. He is the type of ferocious offensive lineman whose snarl and physicality can change the momentum of a game. Rather than block timidly, he seeks out defenders like a heat-seeking missile and explodes on them with carefully calculated high-impact contact that often sends them to the ground, but will at least re-direct them." -

Despite the projection of bench-warming throughout his rookie season, we doubled down on our glowing outlook of the rookie center with this article in May, 2024:
"IOL Beaux Limmer is country-strong and a fireplug at any of the three interior offensive lineman positions. While he is unlikely to earn a start this year, if any of the three interior offensive linemen fall to injury, Limmer is good enough to make it very difficult for them to reclaim their starting role." -

So the stage was set for high expectations over an LA Rams rookie who had little realistic hopes of seeing the football field this season. And yet, that is why picking the Best Player Available (BPA) really does pay off.
More Rams news:
Has anyone noticed that Rams WR Demarcus Robinson scores a lot?
While still adjusting to his starting role, the Rams have plenty of reasons to be pleased with his unexpected performance so far. In 493 offensive snaps, he has allowed no quarterback sacks but committed four penalties. His run-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus is an impressive 65.8, while his pass-blocking grade is a decent enough 52.4.
But when facing fellow rookie DT Byron Murphy in Week 9? Well, here's what the 33rd Team had to say about him:
You can debate the merits and virtues of offensive linemen in the NFL until the cows come home. But the bottom line of success to any offensive lineman comes down to:
- How many quarterback sacks did he allow?
- How well did he create running lanes for the running back?
The Rams hit the bullseye with rookie center Beaux Limmer. The team could not have anticipated that both Jonah Jackson and Steve Avila would be injured simultaneously this season. But now that Limmer continues to solidify his claim as the team's starting center, you have to wonder if the team has any intention of benching him when his teammates return.
I don't think that they do. As always, thanks for reading.
