Who are the announcers and referees for the Rams vs. Seahawks today?
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams travel to the lush (and rainy) Pacific Northwest to battle the Seattle Seahawks in a Week 9 contest that will play a large role in determining the pecking order of the NFC West Division. According to projections, this was the year for a very good Rams team and a meh Seahawks team. But so far, the Seahawks have been surprisingly more successful, and the Rams have struggled early.
But the momentum for both teams may be changing.
After jumping out to a surprising 3-0 start to the NFL season, the Seahawks have dropped four of their last five games as competition has stiffened. Likewise, the Rams stumbled out of the gates to a 1-4 start before their BYE in Week 6. Since then the team has gone on a mini 2-0 winning streak. But so far, the team has only claimed wins at home.
And this one is on the road.
The team has been getting better production out of the defense, as new DC Chris Shula has been learning and making adjustments along the way. For the Rams offense, Week 8 was an explosion of offensive output. The team clearly performs much better when QB Matthew Stafford, WRs Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and RB Kyren Williams all take the field simultaneously.
But fans have had to endure another scare to WR Puka Nacua this week. Will he suit up and play? We'll get back to that. For now, who are the announcers and referees for Week 9?
Announcers for Rams vs. Seahawks
- Lead Play-by-Play Announcer: Kenny Albert
- Color Commentator: Jonathan Vilma
- Sideline reporter: Megan Olivi
While certainly an important game for NFL fans who reside on the West Coast, this game is competing head to head with the nationally televised Chicago Bears (4-3) at the Arizona Cardinals (4-4) game, and a very competitive NFC North Division battle between the Detroit Lions (6-1) at Green Bay Packers (6-2).
Kenny Albert is the longest tenured sports announcer on the Fox Sports broadcast team, boasting 31 years of multi-sport announcing. Joining him in the broadcast booth is former three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Jonathan Vilma. This is the first full-time NFL assignment for Megan Olivi, who has extensive background in covering MMA and UFC. She has been a sideline reporter with Fox Sports since 2018, with 2024 being her first full time assignment to the NFL.
Referees for Rams vs. Seahawks
Head Referee: Clay Martin
Clay Martin and crew officiated the Arizona Cardinals at the Miami Dolphins game in Week 8. This is Martin's seventh season as an NFL referee. Per his Pro Football Reference statistics, Martin's crew has averaged nearly 12 penalties per game in 2024 (just under the league average) and 97.29 penalty yards per game (a bit under the average).
On a positive note, Martin's crew has definitely been good for visiting teams, as the home teams has emerged victorious just 14.3 percent of the time with Clay Martin officiating.
Full officiating crew
- Head Referee: Clay Martin
- Umpire: James Carter
- Down Judge: Jerod Phillips
- Line Judge: Brian Perry
- Field Judge: Alonzo Ramsey
- Side Judge: Dave Hackshaw
- Back Judge: Greg Wilson
- Replay Official: Brian Matoren
- Replay Assistant: Bryant Thompson
You have to hope that the game is not decided by missed calls or overly aggressive officiating. But as we learned in Week 8, missed calls often benefit both teams, despite the outrage by one fanbase over the matter.

Okay, so back to Puka Nacua's status. The Rams remain quite optimistic that he can suit up, and the offense certainly performs so much better with him on the football field:
But suiting up does not necessarily mean a full workload. This team has a surprisingly deep WR room, and even if Nacua is limited in his workload in Week 9, I expect that the team will find plenty of opportunities to put up points.
Former Rams starting ILB Ernest Jones is questionable for this game with a neck injury. But former Seahawks TE Colby Parkinson will start and face his former team. I would not be the least bit surprised to see Parkinson have a season-high performance in Week 9. This is also an ideal game to see a powerful 1-2 punch out of the Rams two running backs, Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.
I believe that the Seahawks D is geared up to stop the Rams aerial assault. So a ground attack could be very productive.
