Will Mother Nature play a factor in this pivotal Week 9 game for Rams?
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams, based out of Los Angeles, California, do not get much practice at facing the elements. Whether safely nestled until the open air (but domed) SoFi Stadium, or competing across the nation at domed NFL stadiums, the days of shivering cold in rain, snow, sleet, or that cold bone-numbing breeze seems to be a thing of the past.
But occasionally, Mother Nature rears her less agreeable self, and the team must simply deal with it.
Whether is the slop of pooling water on a football field, the blast of icy winds, or frozen precipitation, the weather can play a significant role in the outcome of NFL games. That is particularly true if teams fail to anticipate and prepare for inclement weather. Ultimately, it's not just the weather that can derail the best laid preparation, but the failure to anticipate its impact.
Right now, it's pretty sloppy weather in Seattle, Washington. Per nflweather.com, you can expect more where that came from. After all, this is Autumn, and Seattle is known as the Emerald City for a reason. The rain keeps the city in a constant state of lush vegetation.
And that give the Seattle Seahawks home field advantage this time of year.
Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington is an open-roof football stadium, allowing both fans and football teams to be exposed to whatever the weather forecast brings to bear.
LA Rams vs Seattle Seahawks, game time details:
Date: Sunday, November 3, 2024
Time: 1:25 pm PT
Location: Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington
The forecast at kickoff for this one is consistent throughout the game. Fans will experience chilly temperatures in the low 50s (Fahrenheit) with light winds out of the SouthEast at five miles per hour. The risk of precipitation is 37 percent throughout the game. But this is Seattle, so plan for drizzly cold.
The Rams are more of a fun in the sun type of team, and are not exactly famous for excellence in mud and slop. It's not a fault of the team or coaches. It's simply due to the fact that this team seldom faces adverse weather.
Let's hope the team recalls how well they competed in a drenching rain in 2023 to nearly overcome the Baltimore Ravens on the road, only losing in overtime. If this team can channel that effort in Week 9, fans will be happy with the outcome.
