The LA Rams are facing something that this team seldom encounters. That is, the Rams will be playing in heavy snowfall, a weather condition that is unheard of in Southern California. But the weather forecast has been increasingly certain about the likelihood and the intensity of snow for this game.
But snow may be the least of the Rams worries in this game.
The game is a rematch of Week 12, when the Philadelphia Eagles ran amok over the Los Angeles Rams in SoFi Stadium. In that game, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley set a franchise rushing record by running for 255 yards and two touchdowns. And with heavy snow in the forecast, it's a certainty that the Eagles will feed Barkley the football until the Rams defense stops him, if they ever do.
I won't lie. That is a perfectly sound approach to this game.
But this is not a game between Saquon Barkley and the Eagles run defense. Yes, the Rams lost in Week 12 by the score of 37-20. But Rams QB Matthew Stafford threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns in that game. Rams wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp combined for 17 receptions, 177 yards, and a touchdown. Even RB Kyren Williams averaged 4.5 yards per carry while gaining 72 yards and one touchdown.
The Rams offense was able to move the football and score on that Eagles defense. Now, the Eagles will play without two defensie stars in LB Nakobe Dean and DE Brandon Graham. That Rams offense may be entirely overlooked in this one, but they have an opportunity to put up some points.
The last major snow storm during a game pitted the Detroit Lions against the Philadelphia Eagles on December 8, 2013. The Eagles won that game by a score of 34-20. But Matthew Stafford was the Lions quarterback in that one. Lions PR/KR Jeremy Ross scored a touchdown on a kick return and a punt return in that game. In other words, prepare for anything in this game.

Snow can be one of the most challenging, yet most exhilarating, weather scenarios for football. It slows down the game, and adds a bit of humor to the game as well. Just imagine Yakety Sax playing in the background as NFL players slip and slide on a snow-covered field.
Hopefully, the fun for the LA Rams will continue with a huge win.
As always, thanks for reading.
