The wide receiver was released by the Los Angeles Rams during the first official weekend of training camp.

One of the unfortunately parts about training camp is seeing all of the players who are forced to find new homes after being released from the team. Unfortunately for wide receiver Deon Long, he’s one of the first to be cut from the Los Angeles Rams during the early stages of camp.

After signing with the team’s practice squad last December, Long was released by the Rams on Sunday–which should’t come as a surprise when looking at all of the other current wide receivers on the roster. Los Angeles is lucky enough to have numerous wide receivers who seem capable of stepping it up big in 2016, but Long just didn’t seem to be part of the plans at this point.

Long originally signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2015 as an undrafted rookie after an impressive career at Maryland, but finding a roster spot on a team has been a bit of a challenge. The Rams were already the third team Long was part of (he signed with the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad at one point last year too) and it seems unlikely another team will be moving fast to sign the wideout.

If anything, Long will most likely just have to be patient to see if any team suffers an injury in the wide-receiver department and hopefully find a new home before the 2016 season gets underway.
