Trade Rumors: Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns Interested In Sam Bradford

facebooktwitterreddit

Last week, it was reported by CBS’s Jason La Canfora that the St. Louis Rams had given quarterback Sam Bradford permission to seek a trade. Jeff Fisher and Les Snead both shot down the report, but that doesn’t mean that team aren’t interested.

According to Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports. Multiple team sources tell Getlin that Buffalo head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman aren’t high on quarterback E.J. Manuel, and believe that Bradford could help the club contend in 2015.

In one of my columns last week, I listed the teams that could be interested in Bradford and the Bills just so happened to make that list. With a solid receiving corps on the outside with Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods as well as tight end Scott Chandler, the Bills really are just missing a quarterback. Buffalo went 9-7 with Kyle Orton last season.

It could be tough for the Bills to give up enough compensation to satisfy the Rams. Buffalo only has six picks in this year’s draft, having already traded their first-round selection to move up in last May to select Watkins. Still, Bradford probably wouldn’t command a first-round although the Rams may ask for it.

The Rams however, are without a fourth and sixth round pick after trading for safety Mark Barron, perhaps they could pick up a couple of mid-round picks if they were to pull off this caliber of trade.

Also interested int Bradford, over the weekend, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Browns would also have interest in acquiring Bradford.

The Browns went 7-9 last season and aside from missing a number one receiver with Josh Gordon out, a quarterback could be enough to get them over the top.

While the Rams may not be interested in trading Bradford, it certainly seems like other teams are more than willing to trade for him. This is just the beginning of what is going to be a long process. Bradford is set to make almost $13 million this season, and for a quarterback who has barley seen the field the last two years, the Rams must find a way to get that number down whether it be restructure, trade, or release.

UPDATE: According to Bill’s NFL Writer, Vic Carucci, the Bills are not pursuing Bradford.
