With the Combine in the background and Pro Days being nothing more than a chance for non-Combine invitees to show off their wares, all eyes in the NFL will now turn towards the 2015 NFL Draft. As the focus on the Draft continues, more and more mocks have begun to sprout up, changing ever-so slightly as teams and analysts learn more about the prospects and various teams’ offseason roster intentions.
Although free agency will play a pivotal role in deciding the Rams’ “areas of need” heading into Draft Day, it is still worthwhile, in light of that reality, to examine who the experts believe will be wearing the golden horns in the upcoming season.

With a nearly solidified defense unit, albeit with only adequate starters at a handful of positions, most (if not all) are projecting the St. Louis Rams to bolster their offense with the No.10 overall pick. Many believe, understandably, that the offensive line should be the top priority in the opening round. Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller recently echoed that sediment, mocking OG/OT Brandon Scherff to the Rams in his most recent draft.
Unlike Andrus Peat, who doesn’t quite “fit” the Rams scheme, Scherff is a versatile, road-grading monster of an offensive lineman. Scherff possesses the skill set and experience necessary to be a plug-and-play starter from Week 1, with the flexibility to play either guard spot or push out to right tackle, if necessary. The infamous Mel Kiper, Jr. also recently mocked Scherff to the Rams in his previous release.
Other names, like LSU’s La’el Collins and Miami’s Ereck Flowers, have also seen their names attached to the Rams in the opening round, highlighting the Rams’ need to cement the offensive line.
However, the other position that has regularly been notched next to the St. Louis Rams might come as a surprise to some; wide receiver. In fact, Mel Kiper’s first iteration of the mock draft season pinned West Virginia stud, Kevin White, to the Rams.
Most recently, after an impressive showing at the NFL Combine bumped White to the top of the receiver class on many boards, a handful of notable draft experts projected another “elite” receiver prospect to the Rams. In Todd McShay’s 3.0 draft, he has the Rams taking Alabama star, Amari Cooper, at the No. 10 spot, handing St. Louis the most polished receiver to come out of the Draft in recent memory.
While Cooper doesn’t possess the size or strength of players like Kevin White or DeVante Parker, he is unquestionable the most fluid route runner and natural “catcher of the ball.” Ironically, Cooper has drawn many comparisons to Torry Holt, which would certainly be a welcome sight in St. Louis.
Other mocks have had one of the top quarterback prospects falling into the Rams lap at No.10, while other have pitched seemingly nonsensical selections, such as cornerback, defensive end, or running back. However, the vast majority appear to be on-board with one of two options: a) Plug up a glaring hole on the offensive line to keep Sam Bradford upright or b) Draft a non-project, non-injury prone alpha receiver for Sam Bradford to throw to this season.Either way, it will be a nice change of pace to see Jeff Fisher and Co. focus on upgrading the offense on Draft Day…
