How do other teams view the St. Louis Rams?

No matter what league there is, some teams are feared more than others. And most of the time, they are feared because they are good. So, how do other teams view the St. Louis Rams? Are they a team people fear? Or are they viewed as a team that can be easily beaten?Lets take the NBA into account for a moment. Who are the most feared teams in the league? The first teams that come to mind are the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors. Two of these teams have built a feared persona by a number of good seasons, while the other has just recently become a team to worry about.

Sure, the Lakers stink right now, but wen you see them on the schedule, you still don’t want to play them just for the sure fact that they are the Lakers. Same goes for the other two as well. They have earned the respect of the fans regardless if they pull for those specific teams.

The same principles apply in the NFL as well. If you talk to a novice football fan who isn’t very familiar with current players or could tell you who won the superbowl last year, who would they say are the best, most feared teams in the league? They would most likely say the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. These three teams have earned the respect of everyone regardless of how good they play. Nobody wants to play these three teams, ever. Now sure, the Seattle Seahawks have dominated the past three NFL seasons, but can we really put them in the same class as the other three teams? Respect usually comes with a long resume, which all three of these teams have. The Seahawks are well on their way, but I don’t think we could put them in that category just yet.

So, where does this leave the Rams? If we asked this question 10 years ago, then yeah, maybe they would be a pretty feared team in the eyes of the league and for good reason. The Rams rank in the top 10 in most regular season wins in franchise history, but they haven’t had very many of the past 10 regular seasons. No matter how much “better” the Rams have gotten over the past 2-3 years doesn’t mean they are a “feared” opponent. They are just well, the Rams. A team that anyone else in the league thinks would be an easy win. This is something that is changing, but slowly. Respect is earned, not given. So, the Rams won’t be respected until they translate it into wins and playoff appearances and superbowl titles. Lets just hope that that isn’t very far around the corner.
