Week 2 @ the Washington Redskins
Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns
Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers
Week 9 @ the Minnesota Vikings
Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals
Week 15 against the Tampa Bay Bucs
These are all games that the St. Louis Rams absolutely must win in order to make it to the 2015/16 post season. All but two are non-division contests and are all very winnable games. The start to the season is brutal for the Rams. Four out of the first five games are against playoff teams from a season ago. The Rams have to win their week two matchup against the Redskins in order to avoid what could very well be an 0-5 start to the season.
The Rams will then get a little breathing room from weeks 7-10. St. Louis will take on the Browns and 49ers in back-to-back home games and need to win both games. If they are able to do so, this will likely get the Rams to around .500 for the season. In week nine, the Rams go back on the road to Minnesota and will need to knock off Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings in order to keep their momentum going in the right direction before they go on the road to 2014 playoff teams, the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.
After what will be two tough round games against the AFC North, the Rams will come back home to take on the Arizona Cardinals for the second time. This is a game they need to win to keep pace with them and the rest of the NFC West. The Rams will then battle it out with a very stingy Detroit Lions club in the very next game, and will cap off their three-game home stand against the young Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is another game the Rams have to win no matter what.
The last two games of the year are two road games against the Seattle Seahawks and 49ers, neither of which should be considered as must win games. If the Rams are able to win what I consider as six must win games, this would set them up to have a decent shot at a wildcard berth. St. Louis would need to win 4-5 games across the other 10 in order to make the playoffs. This is very doable, but will be tough to do with a very young offense that the Rams currently posses.
