The 2016 NFL Pro Bowl draft took place on Wednesday, setting the final rosters for Team Rice and Team Irvin for this weekend’s all-star game. After the all picks were selected Los Angeles Rams’ Defensive tackle Aaron Donald and punter Johnny Hekker ended up on the same team while rookie running back Todd Gurley, was separated from his Rams teammates in Wednesday night’s Pro Bowl draft.
In the new Pro Bowl format, teams are no longer separated by conference, instead former players have a fantasy draft to select their teams. On Wednesday Donald and Hekker ended up on Team Rice, however, Gurley was picked up by Team Irvin.
Joining Gurley on Team Irvin will be rival quarterback, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, as well as Atlanta Falcons‘ Julio Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars‘ Allen Robinson, and Houston Texans‘ DeAndre Hopkins.
On Team Rice with Donald will be New York Giants‘ Eli Manning, Minnesota Vikings‘ Adrian Peterson, Oakland Raiders‘ Khalil Mack, and Kansas City Cheifs‘ Eric Berry.
Finishing the year third in rushing in the NFL in 2015 with 1,106 yards, Gurley was the eighth player chosen by Team Irvin. Donald, who had 11 quarterback sacks in 2015 and was consistently a force in the in opposing teams’ backfield, was chosen as a team captain for Team Rice.

With all that said, a very interesting matchup could present itself on Sunday. It is very possible that Gurley will be running against Donald on the defensive line. Being arguably the best players on their respective sides of the ball on the Rams, this matchup should be a fun one to watch.
This will be Gurley’s first of hopefully many Pro Bowls while Donald and Hekker are each making their second Pro Bowl appearances. The game is set for Sunday 7 p.m. ET at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
