If it’s one memory that Rams fans hang onto for dear life, it’s the 1999 season. Coming out of absolutely nowhere, the Rams defeated the odds as they defeated the Tennessee Titans in the Super Bowl. Given how high powered the offense lead by Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, and Isaac Bruce was, some have said they are one of the greatest teams ever. While, its hard to compare them with 1985 Chicago Bears, 2000 Baltimore Ravens, or 1972 Miami Dolphins, experts have always debated the topic of greatest Super Bowl champion ever.

Well, now we have an answer. According to prediction machine, the 1999 Rams are the best Super Bowl champion of all-time. The top five ranks out with the 1985 Bears coming second, 1989 San Fransisco 49ers third, 1996 Green Bay Packers fourth, and finally the 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers finished at fifth, a team the Rams also have history with.

The site says,

"“The “Greatest Show on Turf” is the greatest team in Super Bowl history. The Rams ranked first in the NFL in total yards and total points (would do so in each of the next two seasons as well). Kurt Warner became just the second quarterback to throw for more than 40 touchdowns and was named league MVP. Marshall Faulk amassed 2,429 yards from scrimmage and scored twelve touchdowns, he was named Offensive Player of the Year, while finishing second in MVP voting. The defense finished the season ranked sixth in yards and fourth in points. A team known for its offense won its Super Bowl thanks to a defensive play that is one of the most memorable in Super Bowl history”"

PredictionMachine uses a software called “Predictalator” which is supposedly the most advanced sports forecasting software available today. The technology has the ability to account for all of the statistical interactions of the players (playing or not playing/injured), coaches, officials, fans (homefield advantage) and weather in each game.

The Predictalator plays every game 50,000 times before it’s actually played. This provides PredictionMachine.com the ability to assign probabilities to the likelihood of just about any outcome occurring in any event as well as to project individual statistics and more including straight-up, against-the-spread and over/under pick percentages for each game.

The Rams ended the 1999 season as one of the most unlikely teams to win the title. While the Rams have been out of the playoffs for quote some time, to see that they are the greatest champion of all-time as we head into Super Bowl 50 is pretty special.
